Ho Chi Minh city (Viet Nam)
The Talk Show & Tea Show event is designed to interpret the heritage of Vietnamese Tea Culture, while presenting indigenous knowledge and techniques of tea processing, together with the cultural practices of tea appreciation in Vietnam.
Tea is not merely a beverage; it is the crystallization of folk wisdom, refined processing techniques, and the art of appreciation, deeply interwoven with the cultural life of generations of Vietnamese people. To affirm the multidimensional value of this heritage, the talk show “Vietnamese Tea Culture: The Journey from Tea Plant to Teacup” offers participants an experience that is at once educational, sensory, and enjoyable through direct exchanges and hands-on interactions with tea growers, processors, brewers, and creators of contemporary tea-based drinks.
The event presents Vietnamese tea culture as a living, multilayered heritage, shaped by history, indigenous knowledge, processing craftsmanship, and tea-drinking rituals, underscoring tea as a symbol of culture, economy, and ecology. It seeks to safeguard folk knowledge—from cultivation and preservation of rare varieties to processing secret—helping to sustain the agricultural and ecological wisdom transmitted through generations.
It aims to create a dynamic space for dialogue, experience, and scholarship, where artisans and communities share their voices; where visitors, researchers, and young audiences can engage, practice, and innovate—bringing tea heritage into contemporary life with creativity while honoring authenticity. By connecting artisans, entrepreneurs, tea enthusiasts, and the younger generation, the program fosters a sustainable network of cooperation, inspiring pride and collective responsibility for the safeguard and promotion of this element. Encouraging organic farming, resource conservation, and biodiversity protection, the event motivates youth to preserve, renew, and spread traditional values as a bridge linking past, present, and future.
Target participants:
- University students and young generations with an interest in culture, arts, and gastronomy
- Researchers, cultural managers, artisans, and tea-based entrepreneurs.
- International visitors seeking to explore Vietnamese heritage and cultural experiences
Expected Outcomes:
- The program serves as a living-heritage forum, celebrating the contributions of tea growers, processors, and artisans, and providing a platform for the transmission of traditional knowledge and culinary culture. It stimulates youth creativity, promotes green lifestyles and sustainable consumption, and affirms Vietnam’s status as a nation with a rich and distinctive tea heritage, in line with its international commitments to safeguarding intangible cultural heritage and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
- At the same time, it becomes a space for dialogue and collaboration, sharing conservation practices and presenting Vietnamese tea as a bridge of culture, economy, and tourism. The event strengthens the value of the Vietnamese tea brand, supports creative entrepreneurship, and encourages scientific and technological innovation, contributing actively to the global tea value chain.
“Vietnamese Tea Culture: The Journey from Tea Plant to Teacup” affirms the shared responsibility of society in preserving cultural diversity, protecting indigenous knowledge, and safeguarding ecological spaces. It calls for international dialogue and cooperation, ensuring that this heritage is transmitted as a vibrant, living cultural tradition, and contributes to the global effort to protect the intangible cultural heritage of humanity.
